Tarform Unveils Vera Electric Motorcycle For Urban And Trail Riders

Tarform, based in Brooklyn, NY, has unveiled its latest electric motorcycle, the Vera, targeting both urban and trail riders. This new EV follows the Luna luxury electric motorcycle, known for its distinctive design and eco-conscious construction methods. The Vera comes as a response to the growing demand for a higher-volume production model from Tarform, priced at $16,000. Engineered as a versatile street and scrambler motorcycle, it caters to urban commuters and weekend trail enthusiasts alike, marking a significant milestone in Tarform’s mission to revolutionize mobility with a blend of performance, design, and environmental sustainability.

Taras Kravtchouk, Tarform’s Founder and Chief Designer, highlighted the company’s journey, from the initial deliveries of the Luna in 2022 to the development of the Bespoke Edition and the expansion of their presence in the U.S. and Canada in 2023. Each Tarform motorcycle undergoes meticulous handcrafting, a departure from the mass production methods of larger OEMs. The Luna’s success paved the way for Tarform’s foray into the electric watercraft segment with the Raye concept in March 2023, aimed at a niche market.

As Tarform moves forward, the company plans to host various events and pop-up showrooms in New York and LA, offering test rides of the Vera. Kravtchouk expressed excitement about introducing the Vera, emphasizing its role in expanding Tarform’s presence in the premium EV mobility sector. Leveraging the experience gained from Luna’s development, Tarform aims to expedite Vera’s time-to-market by incorporating Luna’s technology, including the operating system, drivetrain, and handlebar unit with the retina display.

The Vera boasts a lightweight aluminum frame and an innovative modular drivetrain, designed to accommodate future technological advancements and minimize waste. With a 102-V, 8-kW·h lithium battery, and a 35-55 kW motor, the Vera offers impressive performance metrics, including a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 3.5 s, a top speed exceeding 85 mph, and a range of 100 miles. Notable components include standard Brembo brakes and an optional suspension upgrade from Tenneco’s Ohlins unit, enhancing the bike’s handling and comfort.

True to Tarform’s commitment to sustainability, the Vera incorporates plant-based composites in its body panels and bio-based upholstery alternatives. Waste, a member of the Scays Group, supplies upholstery material made from tea waste, contributing to the reduction of non-recyclable and petroleum-based plastics in production. Connectivity features such as Bluetooth and 4G enable over-the-air updates and health monitoring through the Tarform mobile app.
