BMW’s all-electric i4 four-door liftback receives a subtle refresh for 2025, featuring a redesigned face with full LED headlights, laser-accented tail lights, and various cosmetic updates inside and out. However, the driving range remains unchanged compared to the outgoing model.
The official press release doesn’t delve into the car’s performance, driving range, or charging speeds, suggesting that the specs likely mirror those of the previous model. This implies that the 2025 BMW i4 should offer up to 536 horsepower and 586 pound-feet of torque, with a maximum estimated range of 307 miles.
Two battery sizes are available: 68.7 kilowatt-hours and 84.3 kilowatt-hours, with a DC fast charger replenishing the battery in approximately 30 minutes. The updated Plug & Charge Multi Contract function allows users to store up to five “contracts” with EV charging companies for seamless payments.
Externally, the facelift introduces redesigned adaptive full LED headlamps as standard across all models, alongside black high-gloss accents, new paint finishes, and alloy wheels. The top-tier i4 M50 xDrive also features BMW’s Laserlight tail lights as standard, while lower models can opt for this feature with the Shadowline Package.
The laser-accented rear lights employ laser diodes to illuminate a fiber optic bundle, resembling the limited-edition BMW M4 CSL. On the M Performance i4 M50, the front vertical kidney grille boasts a black high-gloss surround.
Internally, the refreshed i4 boasts BMW’s latest iDrive infotainment system, supported by BMW Operating System version 8.5. Optional features include a curved display and the Live Cockpit Professional feature, offering a full-color head-up display and augmented reality video when using the navigation system.
The latest iDrive iteration integrates physical buttons for the climate control system into the digital interface. Additionally, the 2025 i4 and its combustion-powered 4 Series Gran Coupe counterpart feature standard sport seats covered in perforated Sensatec fabric and a two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated multifunction buttons. The optional M Sport Package upgrades to a leather M steering wheel with a three-spoke design and a flat-bottomed rim.
Production of the facelifted BMW i4 is set to commence in July 2024 at the company’s Munich plant. While pricing details are yet to be announced, it’s anticipated that the 2025 i4 will maintain a starting MSRP comparable to the outgoing model. For reference, the base 2024 BMW i4 eDrive35 starts at $52,200, with the top i4 M50 trim beginning at $69,700.
